L1 High powered rocket
A L1 class model rocket is a rocket that flies on an "H" or "I" class motor. Every letter further into the alphabet, the motor's impulse doubles. Colligate clubs like WPI's HPRC typically utilize a large team of students to build high powered models, albeit slightly more sophisticated. In 2020, I got my L1 certification to fly these rockets through the CMASS rocketry club. I built a "Zephyr" model rocket kit from Apogee components and used a chute release to ensure the model did not drift too far away from the launch site during recovery. After passing the written exam, I successfully flew and recovered the model and obtained my L1 rocketry license. More pictures and videos of my rockets can be found on this Instagram account.
