Powder Coating Oven conversion
Powder Coating Oven conversion
During summer break in 2022, I wanted to get into powder coating for various at-home projects and robots. While I could buy a cheap powder coater gun from Harbor Freight, I could not afford a curing oven large enough to fit the parts I wanted to coat. Instead, I modified a cheap analog meat smoker from Lowes. To hit the required 400F (even through the cold winter), I later added wool insulation in January to large interior cavities. A digital control box was also added to automatically run through custom heat cycles. This quick project was wildly successful, saving thousands of dollars while delivering much of the same functionality.Â
